The following represents residual (no bidder) assignments provided to impacted mail handlers at the Bronx Post Office. In accordance with my understanding there are 47 residual assignments (mostly for the FSS) with an opening and closing dates of 8.31 to 9.6.2010. The effective date of these assignments is 9.25.2010. It is my understanding that 47 impacted mail handlers from the Bronx Post Office will report to Mid Island; seniority of these employees is currently unknown. Furthermore, vacant bid assignments will be posted shortly which will also include vacant FSS positions. The Service has informed this union that the FSS will start up mid October 2010. For your information there will be a total of 96 building wide assignments to operate four FSS machines. This union was informed that one FSS will start-up each month. Support personal such as West deck employees, and in-House operators etc... is unknown at this time.
Effective September 1, 2010 brother Stan Beresk known as iron man for his many long years and every day service shall retire. Stan started his postal career May 1968 and after 42 years and over four thousand of accumulated sick leave, Stan (number two on the seniority list) has decided to retire. Stan has been a long time member of this union and a good friend to all. This union wishes Stan the very best and a healthy long retirement.
