18208 Tour one; In this issue the Union argued that clerks were performing mail handler work [placarding] at the FKI Linear Sorter on June 10, 2018; union had argued that placarding is a mail handler function and clerks should not be placarding; issue resolved the applicable witness shall receive a lump sum payment of $35.
18212 Tour one; Again; in this issue the Union argued that clerks were performing mail handler work [placarding] at the FKI Linear Sorter on June 6, 2018; union had argued that placarding is a mail handler function and clerks should not be placarding; issue resolved the applicable witness shall receive a lump sum payment of $25.
17529311/17217 Arbitration award; In this case and heard in front of Arbitrator Robert Simmelkjaer the Union argued that the removal was not issued for just cause and there are mitigating issues involved that negates the discharge. The mail handler was on a Last Chance Agreement which the Service claimed was violated. Case was heard in front on Arbitrator Simmelkjaer who reinstate the employee and made the following ruling; The NOR issued to the Grievant was not for just cause. As a remedy, he shall be reinstated to his position subject to a fitness-for-duty examination. The Grievant shall be reinstated with medical benefits, but with no back pay. The Grievantís LCA shall be extended to June 30, 2019 -- eighteen (18) months after the expiration of the LCA on December 30, 2017. The Arbitrator shall retain jurisdiction sine die to address any issues that may arise in the interpretation or implementation of the remedy portion of this award. Good award..
18223/18224 Tour one; In these cases the Union argued that PIV operators for the Linear Sorter are performing higher level work outside their bid location; policy dictates otherwise and PIV cannot perform work outside their bid location for example; dispatching mails from the Robot and AFCís machines to the platform. Issue resolved; management agrees that unless the work outside the bid location is trivial, the higher level work should go to the employee in that work location and if there are no available employees in that section, management must utilities the tour seniority list to obtain available and qualified PIV operators.
