Grievance Update September 2017
17243 Tour two; Grievant received an administrative AWOL dated, 7.8.2017 for no show or call; issue resolved the administrative AWOL shall be changed to an approved leave w/o pay.
17236 tour one; Grievant received a letter of warning for irregular attendance dated, 6.30.2017; issue resolved where the letter of warning shall expire on 3.18.2018.
17283 Tour one; Grievant received a letter of warning for irregular attendance dated, 8.1.2017; issue resolved where the letter of warning shall expire on 5.1.2018.
17240 Tour three; a mail handler assistant was instructed to clock-out due to low mail volume with a subsequent loss of pay, however management kept a casual on the clock; issue resolved, the MHA shall receive two  hours of pay.
17182 Tour three regional settlement; Grievant received a letter of warning for irregular attendance dated, 5.8.2017; issue resolved where the letter of warning shall expire on 5.8.2018.
17149 Tour three regional settlement; Issue centers on an employee voluntarily bidding from tour to tour such as; tour three to tour one. Understandably, the employee could not work both shifts and had requested administrative leave. In lieu of the administrative leave the Service offered the employee annual leave, leave w/o pay and/or a change of work schedule-all declined by the employee. Because the employee did not take any of the Service’s offers the employee lost a day pays. Union had argued that the employee should had receive administrative leave for the tour change as a result of bidding; Issue resolved, the employee shall receive eight hours of administrative leave.
17170 Tour one; The Service awarded a 204B a residual bid assignment. The union had argued that the employee is a 204B [acting supervisor] and is ineligible to bid and/or receive a bid assignment. The Service disagreed and awarded the 204B an open assignment identified as 70086365 Tour one East Deck. Issue resolved, the 204B position shall be taken-away and the individual shall be unassigned. However, because the district is under withholding the position shall be withheld temporarily or until a local agreement is made to post the assignment.
17166 Tour three; an employee sustained a job related injury but had declined medical attention. Shortly thereafter the employee’s injury became worse and ask to complete the on-the-job paperwork and see his own physician. The Service argued that the employee should be put off the clock immediately until his physician clears him for work. Union argued that the employee does not need clearance to continue working but will provide the Service with a duty status report when he sees his physician. The Service ended his tour until the employee provides the Service with medical clearance; employee used 3.19 hours of sick leave due to the Service ending his tour and medical information was provided that same day. Issue resolved; the employee shall receive 3.19 hours of administrative leave and his sick leave shall be restored.
